Campaign Successes
The University of Texas at Dallas
In May 2023, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas campaign welcomed not only its first higher education partner in the University of Texas at Dallas but also the first Fitness Court® Studio in the state. Located near the University’s Recreation Center, the Fitness Court® Studio now serves as an outdoor wellness hub for nearly 34,000 students, faculty and staff. It is within walking or cycling distance to nearly 55,000 local residents and is conveniently located right next to a high traffic walking path, along a bus route and adjacent to a large parking lot.
Mission, TX
The first official Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas Fitness Court launched in Mission in September 2022 at Hollis Rutledge Northwest Park. A champion for health, wellness and equity in Hidalgo County, the City of Mission’s launch event included Special Olympics Texas athletes to demonstrate the seven movement stations for any fitness level.

Palestine, TX
Launched in November 2022, the City of Palestine cut the ribbon on their Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas Fitness Court at Reagan Park. Even the Grinch came out to try his hand at the pull station as Anderson County residents in Palestine have an accessible, free outdoor workout to enjoy anytime they visit Reagan Park.
Decatur, TX
Decatur’s Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas Fitness Court officially launched in November 2022 at Kenny Renshaw Park. The Fitness Court is the perfect addition to a city committed to providing healthy infrastructure with six active parks equipped with playgrounds, walking trails, a skate park, a disc golf park and many more hiking and biking trails for future planning.
